Barbara’s Bookstore Burr Ridge Store Manager Awarded 2016 James Patterson Holiday Bonus
On Wednesday, December 14, best-selling author and literacy advocate James Patterson announces the names of the select few independent booksellers he has chosen to receive holiday bonuses totaling $250,000. We are very proud that Barbara’s Bookstore Manager Georgette Coan has been named one of this year’s recipients.
Georgette has been the manager of Barbara’s Bookstore in the Burr Ridge Village Center since its opening in 2010. She already had years of experience in bookselling when she helped found the new enterprise in Burr Ridge. Her passion for books is surpassed only by her commitment to getting just the right book into the hands of her customers. In her free time, Georgette blogs about books. You can find her reviews and musings at www.generationgbooks.wordpress.com.
Author James Patterson launched the bonus program in October 2015 to say thank you to the unsung booksellers and school librarians who spread the joy of reading all year long.
The holiday bonus program is part of $2 million in grants and bonuses that Patterson is giving to independent bookstore employees and school libraries this holiday season.
From nearly 3000 nominations received for the holiday bonus program, Patterson personally selected the booksellers who will receive bonuses ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
Barbara’s Bookstore Burr Ridge is a family-owned independent full-service bookstore in the Burr Ridge Village Center. The bookstore has an attached community/special events room, having hosted events for Chelsea Handler, Jim Peterik, and Illeana Douglas to name but a few.
